FLY ME TO THE MOON

Fresh from jilting her latest groom, hand-picked by her Mafioso father, Sofia Cardinella stumbles across Frank Sinatra-wanna-be Ben Estes. Ben turns out to be as suave and seductive as Ol' Blue Eyes himself. Sofia senses they could make beautiful music together, aside from one tiny hitch : Daddy wants to have Ben killed.

Sara - Tonight our guest is the amazing KYLIE ADAMS talking about FLY ME TO THE MOON. We are operating under protocol, so type a ? and I will call on you in turn.
KylieAdams - It takes a lot of work, Andrea darling.
Bon - hey Palz
Ginger - Hi Bon
jennyboofoo - I doubt I'd be able to remember the icons once I typed them in. I can barely keep track of what names I use in different chat rooms. Now icons? Gadzooks.
Cel - Hi Bon
Sara - While we are lining up for questions, I will ask Kylie to tell us something about this new book!
neb - i need to check on something..............don't talk about anything exciting till i get back..........
neb - - 5/27 at 8:59pm EST
Sara - practice, Jenn, practice
KylieAdams - Well, it's a very racy romp, a bit bawdy, SEX AND THE CITY inspired.
Bon - BBL too Palz
Bon - - 5/27 at 9:00pm EST
Cissy - ?
Sara - just a bit? come on, it is a FUNNY BOOK!!!
3Eng has timed out.
Cel -
Sara - and yeah, I blabbed about it at CR. I really liked this book!
jennyboofoo - y'know, Sara? I'm getting the feeling you liked the book. Hilarious, BTW.
KylieAdams - Thank you! I'm getting load of great mail. People love the characters. They want Ben and Sofia to be their best friends!
Ginger - Now Sara I didn't say blabbed!
Sara - yup, Jenn. I was fortunate enough to get an ARC and I LOVED it.
jennyboofoo - Hm. ARC?!?
Sara - lent it to my daughter, she took it to school. they all loved it
Sara - couldn't wait until it came out. Have about three copies of it now. To give out to people who want to read it. I don't do that sharing bit well
Sara - Cissy has the first question (Cel in line)
Cissy - I have 2 questions/comments but I'll save the other one for now and get back in line with it. Kylie, if you'd ever told me I would totally get into a romance about cosmetics sales girl running away from her 3rd wedding and a guy she met singing Sinatra songs in a mall, I'd have laughed. But I loved these guys! I want to hang out (and shop!) with Sofia and Ben... well, let's just say ...How on earth did you come with these characters?
Cissy - there should be a comma or period after Sofia. I don't want to shop with Ben. I'd like to do other things with Ben...
andrea - ?
Cel - LOL Cissy
Sara - I was wondering, Cissy. ahem
Helena - - 5/27 at 9:05pm EST
Cel - Hi Helena
Sara - hi, Helena
Ginger - HI Helena
Sara - Helena, Tonight our guest is the amazing KYLIE ADAMS talking about FLY ME TO THE MOON. We are operating under protocol, so type a ? and I will call on you in turn.
KylieAdams - I wanted to do something really different and create a flawed hero and heroine that are just like people we really know--unsure about their futures, a bit lazy, up to their eyeballs in debt. It all came very fast actually.
Helena - sorry I am late cooking at moms
SuzeK - logged on. - 5/27 at 9:07pm EST
KylieAdams - As for what you want to do with Ben, get in line darling! My best friend read the book and was mad at her husband for a week because he wasn't Ben!
Cel - I must say that the character definitely felt *real*
SuzeK - hi, all. sorry, I am late!
Cissy - LOL, Kylie!
Cel - Hi SuzeK
Sara - hmm, not good. Ben was interesting!
Ginger - LOL
Sara - Cel has the next question (Andrea in line)
KylieAdams - Also, I was so tired of the brooding hero with the deep dark secret. Ben is very upfront. What you see is what you get.
Cel - Kylie, what made you decide to give Sofia's sister, Debi, the physical attributes you did....I loved her character and my heart really went out to her several times, but her sense of humor was wonderful?
Sara - SuzeK, Tonight our guest is the amazing KYLIE ADAMS talking about FLY ME TO THE MOON. We are operating under protocol, so type a ? and I will call on you in turn.
Ginger -
Sara - I love Debi! she was great too. And it is amazing to have a book that makes you laugh and cry!
KylieAdams - I wanted to create a sibling dynamic that wasn't based on rivalry. With Debi being overweight and she and Sofia still having a great relationship, I think that has been heartwarming for a lot of people.
KylieAdams - And you haven't seen the last of Debi either! She appears in my next book NANNY JACK!
Cel - Oh yes, their relationship was wonderful
Cel - Oh great
Sara - Andrea has the next question ( Ginger in line)
Sara - ?
andrea - I admit I got the book because of Sara, I read the prologue and chapter 1 on line, it's right here by my side and ahem, hope I'm not of line here -what other books have you written Kylie - perhaps in disguise, are they as funny? Are they as well kooky? ps my favorite line is "well this day has been a real pisser!"
CarsieCake - -----------?---------
Sara - there are several great lines in it, aren't there?
KylieAdams - This is my first book as Kylie Adams. But next year I'll have three out. One full length novel (NANNY JACK), a novella in a a chocolate themed anthology called SEX AND THE SINGLE CHOCOHOLIC, and a novella in a Christmas anthology called HOLIDAY HUNK.
Sara - Ginger has the next question (Sara, CarsieCake in line)
Sara - it was tea that did it, wasn't it Andrea?
Cel - Wow Kylie, you have (or will) be a very busy bee
Sara - NANNY JACK?
Ginger - Well Crap Andrea you took my question ! ....Kylie How long have you been writing?
Cissy - ?
Cel - \
KylieAdams - Just a few years--since 1999.
SueM - logged on - 5/27 at 9:15pm EST
andrea - it was tea that did it!
Cel - Hi SueM
jennyboofoo - ?
Sara - SueM, Tonight our guest is the amazing KYLIE ADAMS talking about FLY ME TO THE MOON. We are operating under protocol, so type a ? and I will call on you in turn.
Sara - okay, my turn
Ginger - Really? Boy you will have what is know as sudden sucess I think!
Sara - Kylie, how on earth did you manage to get those stuffy people in NYC go for you doing FMTTM? it is like a breath of fresh air?
KylieAdams - Well, I can hope darling!
jennyboofoo - 1999? Now it's 2001...can I be jealous? I am. Green with it. Gah.
Sara - Sara has the next question (CarsieCake, Cissy, Cel, jennyboofoo in line)
Sara - FLY ME (for short) is so unlike other romance novels.
Sara - it is really good. funny. fast paced. I am glad to recommend it
KylieAdams - I'm blessed with an editor at Zebra who lets me get away with murder! Truly, though, I think with single titles they are open to stretching the canvas a bit. People are really responding to this story's freshness, so maybe more chances will be taken.
Cel - Kylie, Sara doesn't *highly* recommend that many books, so I knew I had to read it as soon as I got it.
Sara - I hope so!! We need more books like this. At least, I do
Sara - CarsieCake has the next question (Cissy, Cel, jennyboofoo in line)
CarsieCake - Hi Kylie! This is more of a compliament. This was my first Romance to read. i just wanted to say how much I liked it and was happy it wasn't a typical romance.
Sara - yeah, I am a bit stingy with my recommendations
CarsieCake - I loved how it was so much like Will and Grace. But with a sexier male lead!
Cissy - or at least a straight one!
CarsieCake - lol
jennyboofoo - LOl, Cissy - thinking the same thing.
Ginger - Thanks For clearing that up Cissy I was wondering LOL
KylieAdams - Thank you! First, Sarah is a woman with impeccable taste. Listen to her always! CarsieCake, I'm glad you had fun with it. I was definitely going for a straight WILL & GRACE vibe!
andrea - though Kylie does know her gay hairdressers - too
Sara - one attainable to romance readers. I will look differently at mall performers now!
Cel - Well, there was Sofia's best friend, Ricky....I adored his character.
Cissy - oh, I loved him, andrea! (I'm blanking on his name...)
jennyboofoo - especially if the mall performers are cute guys!
Sara - Ricky was great too!
KylieAdams - Do you mean Raymond McLaren in the book's first chapter? He is a real hairdresser in NYC and straight as a board, darlings!
Sara - Cissy has the next question (Cel, jennyboofoo in line)
andrea - Raymond is straight? well I guess you would know
Sara - while cissy is typing
jennyboofoo - let's face it...all the characters were great.
KylieAdams - Ricky was a hoot to write. Every woman needs a gay best friend!
Cel - LOL Kylie
Sara - did you live in NYC? to get the feeling so right?
Sara - I HATE contemporaries where it is obvious the author has never set foot in the place!
Cissy - ok, Kylie - 'fess up. How much shopping did you have to do in the name of "research" to make sure Sofia was on the cutting edge of hip?
Sara - *can I say that strongly enough?*
KylieAdams - No, I live in the south. But I'm in NYC a few times a year.
Cissy - Kylie, speaking as a woman with a gay best friend, I say "hear hear!" to that!
TLynn - logged on. - 5/27 at 9:24pm EST
Sara - TLynn, Tonight our guest is the amazing KYLIE ADAMS talking about FLY ME TO THE MOON. We are operating under protocol, so type a ? and I will call on you in turn.
Cel - Hi TLynn
KylieAdams - Too much shopping, Cissy! My advance was gone before they cut the check!
TLynn - Hi, all!
Sara - are you jealous at the amount of shopping, Cissy?
Sara - Cel has the next question (jennyboofoo in line)
andrea - ?
Cissy - nope, Sara - I'm loathe to admit it in front of Kylie, but I HATE to shop!
Sara - I am jealous at getting to go to NYC a couple of times a year!
SueM - ?
Cel - Kylie, can you tell us a little about your next single title...NANNY JACK?
Sara - ?
Ginger - *gasping* Cissy NO! That is my second, no wait third favorite thing to do!
andrea - blast you cel - that was my next question
Helena - so do I unless it's for books or computers
Cel - sorry andrea...it happens to me all the time
Cissy - lol, Ginger - *dare* I ask about #2 (I can guess #1)
Ginger - Andrea she is getting even for you taking my last question
Sara - Cissy has some problems, guys, we need to get her some therapy -- shopping therapy!!
Ginger - Sex & Reading of course
andrea - sorry
Cissy - actually, I figured out #2 right as I posted my question, Ginger I was right on both counts
Ginger - It's Ok I am just teasing
Ginger - you know me so well Cissy
KylieAdams - Sara, make the trek--just don't go in the summer. It's too hot, and everyone is in the Hamptons! As far as NANNY JACK, it's about a B-movie queen named Tatiana Fox whose husband leaves her for another man. She has to raise twins and convinces her sexy personal trainer to do double duty as a male au pair. Expect to see Debi and Kitty in this book, plus a lot of new characters, like Constance Ann, who is Kathie Lee Gifford on acid!
Cel - LMAO Kylie
Sara - oh.my.god!! okay, I will definitely need the ARC of this one too
Cel - damn, you are greedy Sara
andrea - girls it should be 1) sex, 2)reading 3) food 4) sex 5) nap
Ginger - So kylie before he left her did he hit on the hot personal trainer ?
Sara - well, my daughter wants to go to NYC for college -- Manhattan Merrymount
Sara - so I might get lucky
Helena - Sara you get all the ARC's
Sara - jennyboofoo has the next question (andrea, SueM, Sara in line)
Ginger - Replace food for JUNK food and I can live with that Andrea
Sara - I work hard for the ARCs
jennyboofoo - Gah - I was busy reading.
Cissy - I like your priorities, andrea!
KylieAdams - Actually, no, he hit on her assistant, the equally sexy Enrique!
Sara - and btw, I liked Kitty! She was my kind of gal!
Ginger - oooooh Enriique
jennyboofoo - Kylie - as a writer aiming for the romantic comedy section - I just gotta ask. How the heck do you know when you're writing is funny to other people? My sense of humor is slightly whacked and I find myself wondering. Did you wonder? IF you were funny
KylieAdams - Andrea, if you crossed off reading on your list, you would be a man!
Sara - in fact, there were several characters I loved! so real!
jennyboofoo - Oh blast - what writer uses the wrong your? I suck. Blah.
jennyboofoo - No..that's right. I think I'm going to bed now. Yeesh.
Sara - nah, Jenn, you are in chat. we allow typos and stuff like that!
Helena - man I cant wait to read this book my copy is on it's way from Atlanta
KylieAdams - Jennyboofoo, I think you just have to rely on your gut instincts. I think deep down, you always know if the humor works or not.
Cissy - jenny, I use the wrong "your" all the time and I have 2 degrees in English!
Sara - slow mail, Helena?
jennyboofoo - Phew. No editing my typing. Kay? I suck at typing in a little bitty window when I'm not wearing my glasses.
andrea - 2 questions -AHAH- 1)when does Debi get her own book? 2) If Raymond is a real NYC hairdresser what other characters are based on real people?PS is reading a genetic problem for men?
jennyboofoo - Oh great...my instincts. Well...those are reliable. Not.
Helena - no slow Mailer !!!!! that Shy just mailed them this Friday
SueM - love to see evolution of a writer--what other books have you written?
Sara - andrea has the next question (SueM, Sara in line)
Sara - oops, see Andrea's questions are out there!
andrea - I asked it
KylieAdams - I'm not sure when Debi will get her own book. She appears in NANNY JACK, but not the two that will follow after that. I would like to bring Sofia, Debi, and Kitty back for a wild ride in book number five, though. They could become an all-girl Mob!
Cissy - the mind boggles
Sara - an all-girl MOB!! well, better than the father's less than dynamic duo!!
Cissy - there are slower mailers around, Helena
KylieAdams - No other characters are based on real people, other than celebs who are mentioned in passing.
Sara - although, they did sorta grow on one?
KylieAdams - Fat Larry and Little Bo are so sad! Those poor men.
Sara - those poor poor guys!
Sara - SueM has the next question (Sara in line)
KylieAdams - Can I ask a question to the room?
Cissy - sure, Kylie
