SLIGHTLY SHADY

From the moment he burst into her antiquities shop in Rome, Lavinia Lake knew the stranger was nothing but trouble. He said he was in pursuit of a killer. He swore he was only trying to save her. Yet no matter what he claimed, Lavinia was convinced that Me. Tobias March was bent instead on destroying her. And when the self-described spy hustled her and her niece out of the shop and back to England, Lavinia could only hope that one day she would would find a way to repay Mr. March in full.

But Lavinia never imagined the shocking circumstances under which they would meet again--or that soon he would become more deadly-and more compelling-with each passing day.

Cissy - bry'sapoodle has next question ( RFD64, Teresciaharvey, Niteowl, Nanette, Cel, Syn, StellaC, honeybee, Katd1k, Robin, williska, Andey in line) queue closed
Helena - hey I read two of them and they were good
BarbH - I did too and I liked them too
RFD64 - Being a fan of all your incarnations I’ve noticed your characters use a lot of intuition all the way up to psychic powers (in the Jayne Castle books). Do you believe strongly that everybody has some extrasensory gift?
Andey - the early books are an inspiration to aspiring writers, Jayne, please do consider it
bry'sapoodle - Hi Jayne, I think most of my questions have been answered, I've had to miss most of the chat unfortunately. So, an easy one, will you ever do a book tour in Australia, preferably Melbourne?
Cissy - I've got a few of those, Jayne, and while your growth as a writer definitely shows, I think they're great. I still re-read them because I love the stories.
ElizabethMowell - Jayne Ann Krentz's Laundry Lists, 1960-63--Soon to Be a Major Motion Picture!
Carole - omigosh, omigosh, Jayne said it was an optiob. I'm feeling pretty thrilled right now - I'm still looking for Hired Husband (yeah, in my dreams)
BarbH - I want to own 1 just one I would wrap it in gold
Andey - i have a few- ibought em at a yardsale before i discovered jak books
Jayne/Amanda - bry'sapoodle: I'd love to get to Australia some day!
sunbeam - logged on - 4/6 at 9:46pm EST
Debbie - I agree with Cissy
Debbie - Hi sunbeam
Andey - was i ever happy to find em in the stack
Cissy - RFD64 has next question (Teresciaharvey, Niteowl, Nanette, Cel, Syn, StellaC, honeybee, Katd1k, Robin, williska, Andey in line) queue closed
Thornwyck - Jayne why don't you do what many writers have been doing and update the books and then re-release them?
BarbH - you have Jaynes MacFaddens??
RFD64 - Being a fan of all your incarnations I’ve noticed your characters use a lot of intuition all the way up to psychic powers (in the Jayne Castle books). Do you believe strongly that everybody has some extrasensory gift?
shamrun - logged on - 4/6 at 9:47pm EST
sunbeam - hi
Jayne/Amanda - RFD64: I don't really believe in extrasensory stuff but I definitely believe in intuition. I'm not sure where the line is drawn, to be honest.
Andey - i have 2 of her old books, only one is a mcfadden
Andey - they're on my fav shelf with her others
DawnT - - 4/6 at 9:48pm EST
Cissy - Teresciaharvey has next question (Niteowl, Nanette, Cel, Syn, StellaC, honeybee, Katd1k, Robin, williska, Andey in line) queue closed
Carole - Andey has a few Bentleys she bought at a yardsale (head in hands)....
BarbH - Stella left Cissy
SusanC - - 4/6 at 9:48pm EST
teresciaharvey - I like any book that you write, whether it's contemporary, historical, or futuristic, but I have to admit that the regency's are my absolute favorites. But...what led you to write such sexy regencies when most of the regencies being published at the time were short and "sweet"?
BarbH - sigh, some people have all the luck
Cissy - yep, Barb, that list was already typed, she's been pulled from a later one
Andey - im going shopping again this summer, maybe ill find another idiot who wants to sell some
Jayne/Amanda - Teresciaharvey: I think I wanted to do in the Regency period the same kind of relationship I was already doing in contemporary.
Carole - yeah, BarbH, no kidding...
Boop - I found the Guinevere Jones books at a garage sale.
Cissy - Niteowl has next question (Nanette, Cel, Syn, honeybee, Katd1k, Robin, williska, Andey in line) queue closed
Debbie - I enjoy the sexy stuff Jayne.
BarbH - I would love to find an uninformed soul
BarbH - ???? at a yard sale whine
Niteowl - Ok, my question is....the fact that you're releasing only 1 book per name per year, is that your idea or that of your publisher?
teresciaharvey - I love the sexy stuff, combined with the regencies I love, it's a match made in heaven
Carole - (would you guys knock this garage sale stuff off. It's making me green with envy)
KatBos - A friend of mine found one at a ubs for ten cents!
Andey - my m-i-l bought one for me while i was on bedrest w/ my first preg
ElizabethMowell - Barb, want to buy some oceanfront property in Yuma?
Andey - in a sack of 40 books
Jayne/Amanda - Niteowl: Uh, it isn't just one book a year from my point of view. Remember, I also write as Jayne Ann Krentz and then there's the occasional Jayne Castle and this year I did TWO Jayne Ann Krentz books and suddenly it adds up to a lot of writing!
BarbH - sure, only if its shark infested
Cissy - Yep, most years it's 3 books (thank goodness)
Cissy - Nanette has next question (Cel, Syn, honeybee, Katd1k, Robin, williska, Andey in line) queue closed
Nanette - have you always wanted to write?
Thornwyck - - 4/6 at 9:53pm EST
ElizabethMowell - Do loan sharks count, Barb?*evil grin*
BarbH - Im greedy I want more
KatBos - Jayne and then we gobble them up in one or two days. I bet that's depressing! LOL
Karenfl has timed out.
Jayne/Amanda - Nanette: Nope. Never thought about writing as a career until I was in my twenties. And even then I considered it something I could only do on the side. I was more amazed than anyone else when it actually turned out I could make a living off it!
jeff - logged on - 4/6 at 9:54pm EST

I'm reading SLIGHTY SHADY right now and it's hard to put it down (as all your books are) and of course I'm chomping at the bit waiting for DAWN IN ECLIPSE BAY.

Carole - good question, syn!
Helena - I can answer that one sys she always says the same thing
Jayne/Amanda - Syn: the answer to that question is that my favorite book is ALWAYS the one I'm working on at the moment. Once a book is finished I never look back.
Helena - the one she is working on now
sunbeam has timed out.
ElizabethMowell - Jayne may spend a lot of time travelling, but she is NOT an auto butt!!!!

Nanette - i can't type, but i give real, good injections

katd1d - Do you work on more than one book during the same period of time? If so, how do you keep the stories straight? Also, I want to Thank You for all the pleasure all your books have given me!
Robin - whoops
Boop - I bet I'd like her Mom! I love her sense of humor.
ElizabethMowell - It was auto but--meant either for auto butt or auto buy--I picked the funny one
Nanette - the humor is one of my fav parts
Andey - hubby gives me weird looks when i start giggling while reading
honeybee - I agree the humor is the best part
Jayne/Amanda - katd1d: No, I only work on one book at a time: I can't walk and chew gum at the same time, as they say!
Andey - i tell him if he dont wanna read it dont ask
Cissy - Robin has next question (williska, Andey in line) queue closed
Robin - Jayne, what kind of 'chill' factor do you have planned for Lavinia & Tobias' next adventure?
Niteowl has timed out.

Cissy - williska has next question (Andey in line) queue closed
syn - clapping hands...and crossing fingers...
williska - I'm a huge fan - I have two book shelves filled with books - I love some of the earlier stuff, when the men were almost evil like in "The Family Way" or "Dreams". I notice that the newer books are more sweet. Sign of the time and reader's preference or is this your style?

BarbH - I am going to probably get mine at Meijers they discount it there
Boop - It's on sale at Media Play for $16 here.
Jayne/Amanda - Williska: Not really. I've always written what I wanted to write and I find that as I get older the conflicts I enjoy writing about tend to be a bit different than they were in the old days. I'm more interested in characters who are feeling their way into a partnership, if you see what I mean. But basically still honorable and stubborn and intelligent.
MarcyLV - Not evil......just heavy-duty chauvanists...heh
