kamy - Tipai...was that to SIM?
Go back to Part 1
Lynn - Thanks....technical difficulties
Cissy - Stella's Writer-board: http://www.stellacameron.com/writersbb/
Lynn - Hey everybody
Tipai - yes kamy and SR.
StellaC - Okay, Tipai. So you send the one page query telling them what kind of book you're submitting and any short piece of info that's appropriate, then attach a someone expanded version of the blurb.
Tipai - welcome dawn
kamy - Tipai....can I pick your brain after the class?
StellaC - Isn't it great to be able to get so much instant information?
Niteowl - Hey Lynn /wave
Cissy - Tipai has the next question (kamy, Diane W in line)
Niteowl -
StellaC - ga
Cissy - unless that *was* Tipai's question, in which case kamy is next
Tigg - ?
Tipai - I like that idea Stella thanks! I never thought to have someone else
Tipai - yes kamy is next thanks....lol although ID LIke to pepper her with questions...
Tipai - kamy sure you can although I dont know what good I can do you they turned me down.
kamy - When you mentioned double, double spacing between scene breaks, does that include the switiching between POVs from hero to heroine? Also, can I use itallics when showing a person's thoughts?
Cissy - we may have to do a Part 2 on this one, because we have about 5 minutes left!
Tipai - YES stella...very much so.
Lynn - Please can we do a P2, I missed almost all of this one LOL
StellaC - kamy: Don't double double when you change pov.
Morgan - Why Lynn? Where were you?
kamy - just a new paragraph?....that's sufficient enough?
Lynn -
Morgan....guess?
StellaC - If you can't project the viewpoint change with the dialogue and direction, stay in one viewpoint for the chapter and change for another chapter. Or write entire scenes in one vp and change at the end of a scene.
StellaC - And, yes, use underline (--italics) for internal monologue.
StellaC - ga
StellaC - Kamy--a new paragraph for what? Sorry.
Cissy - Diane has the last question (and we have requests to continue the topic next month)
Diane W - How important is the manuscript preparation, as compared to the manuscript’s content, when submitting an unsolicited manuscript?
StellaC - Oh, to signal change of vp.
StellaC - kamy--we'll have to carry that one on next time.
kamy - yes...but you answered my question Stella...thank you
DawnT - Thank you Stella
StellaC - The manuscript transmits an impression. It says, "Professional," or "Unprofessional." That said, there is nothing that takes the place of storytelling. Write a fabulous story and that's what counts--as long as the editor isn't a person who can't get past the appearance of the manuscript.
StellaC - ga
Diane W - Thanks!
Sara has timed out.
StellaC - I've had my head down, typing like mad here. Don't even know what time it is. Hope I've given some useful info.
Morgan - I'm the Queen of the comma, i'm afraid.
Cissy - That's it, Stella! We're straight up 10p!
We'll continue this on with part 2 next month, if that's okay
StellaC - Punctuation is a problem for lots of people.
StellaC - You've got it. I'll look forward to that.
Tipai - YES Bless you...so much.!!! thank you for the time
Tipai - Morgan Im run on sentences
StellaC - Remember, you can always leave questions on my site on the Writers' Page.
Cissy - And now we have a chat starting in the Readers chatroom with the authors of this month's Harlequin Superromance. Since a lot of you hope to be among them this time next year, I'm sure they'd love it if you'd pop over in support
kamy - yes, absolutely very helpful...thank you
bryony - Thanks Stella, Gaston, the apricot Attack Poodle also thanks you
Tipai - okay I will thanks!
Lynn - Stell, I missed most of the chat, but I still think you are AWESOME!!!
StellaC - Nite all--gotta eat, nap and get back to work.
