| Sabrina Jeffries 3/6/00 - Part 2 |
|
SabrinaJef - Yeah, Susanna, I know what you mean. You have to find a reviewer with your own taste.
Reed - I'll read a review on the net, then go to the book store and read a few pages
Cel - I think part of the problem I have to AAR is that it is not that easy to navigate.
Peter B - I get mostly hints here ...
SabrinaJef - Hey, Jill, since you've reviewed DL, how do you think it compares to FL and PL?
Peter B -
SabrinaJef - Get me some, too, Peter!!
Cel - Even with TRR, there is one specific reader that usually is right on (for my tastes), so I will go with her recommendations.
SabrinaJef - Jill, shouldn't put you on the spot like that, huh?
Peter B - * handles virtual
*
SabrinaJef - Unless I've got the wrong jill.
Cel - Humm - I do believe I meant to say *reviewer*
jill - Well personally PL is my fave b/c I love Gideon (even though I might not have fallen for him as easily) with DL being my second fave. Jordan was not my fave hero and honestly part of it (not sure how much of a part) was the red hair. Just giving you a complete answer!!
Camby - Especially when the rest of us haven't read DL yet Sabrina! LOL
Susanna - I know this is bizarre but I read the endings alot - hate it when someone decides to kill off the hero or heroine
in order to be "different"
SabrinaJef - No, that's why. Y'all were saying Jordan was your fave, but I think you'll like Ian.
Susanna - Sabrina are red headed heroines as much a problem as red headed heroes in terms of covers, etc?
Cel - Susanna, are you saying you read the ending *first*?
SabrinaJef - So the publishers are right, are they?
SabrinaJef - I read endings, too, Susanna.
SabrinaJef - Can't stand not being sure if it will have a HEA.
Camby - Personally, I wouldn't care if Jordan were bald! He's still my favorite.
jill - I really liked Ian. In my case, they are right when they say red heads don't sell covers.
Cel - I must be real anal because I have NEVER read an ending first.
Peter B - Well, it is interesting, that a heroine changed the hairs form blonde (german version) to black (american version) and to red (french version) in a book I found years ago.
Susanna - Cel - I read the first couple pages then jump to the end
SabrinaJef - Susanna, they don't care if the heroine is pink, blue, or purple! That hero just has to be handsome and dark-haired
SabrinaJef - Sometimes blond.
Camby - Ionically Sabrina, if I'm not so sure about the ending, that just makes the book more enjoyable.
jill - I never read endings first. It's like cheating!!
SabrinaJef - But I get tired of them always being the same hair color. (Sorry, Jill
)
Peter B - Sabrina, that depends on where the book is published. LOL
Cel - LOL, Sus - I know there are others that do the same thing (even Sabrina said she does).
SabrinaJef - I'm telling you, Camby, wait until you read Ian.
Reed - I don't read endings first, but if the hero dies, I piss*d
Cissy -
- 3/5 at 10:26pm EST
gerri - I agree Reed.......
Cissy - Hi all!
jill - Oh I do to. You can write them with whatever hair color you want cause in my mind they are always brunette.
Reed -
hi Cissy
SabrinaJef - Hi, Cissy, are you here to kick us out or something?
Cel - Hi Cissy
jill - Hi Cissy!!
Susanna - That's the reason i do that Reed - not going to waste my $$$ on such stuff!
Peter B - Well, but sometimes, there is a necessarity to kill someone ...
Cissy - I'm so sorry I'm late. I trust you all took good care of Sabrina?
Peter B - Hi Cissy
Camby - Looking forward to it Sabrina.
Susanna - Hey Cissy
!
Cissy - LOL, Sabrina - not quite!
SabrinaJef - I'm with you, Reed. Nobody had better kill off my heroes, not in a romance anyway.
Reed - good reason Susanna
Camby - Hi Cissy
sutz - logged on. - 3/5 at 10:27pm EST
Cel - Hi sutz
SabrinaJef - Sutz!! You made it!!!
SabrinaJef -
Reed -
sutz
Stacey - Hi Cissy and Sutz
Peter B - Once killed the lover of the heroine. I was judged to e second book about her.
Camby - Hi sutz
Cel - I believe we have kept Sabrina busy answering questions.
gerri - Hi sutz
Peter B - Hi Sutz /wave
Peter B -
SabrinaJef - Yes, Cissy, they've been good chatters.
Robin - logged on - 3/5 at 10:28pm EST

jill - Hi sutz!!
Cel - Hi Robin
Reed - Robin hi
jill - Hi Robin!!
Camby - Hi Robin
Stacey - Hi Robin
Sondra has timed out.
Peter B - Hi Robin
cinders - logged on - 3/5 at 10:29pm EST
SabrinaJef - What? Did y'all leave the other chat and come over here in mobs?
Cissy - I'm so glad, Sabrina. I agreed to watch my friends kids for awhile this evening while they dedicated their new temple and they were late getting back!
Susanna - Hey Robin
!
Cel - Hi cinders
Peter B - Hi Cinders
cinders - hello everyone
Camby - Hi cinders
Susanna - Hey sutz! Hey Cinders
!
jill - Hi cinders!!
gerri - HI cinders and Robin
Cel - Sabrina, we always have people coming and going (no offense to you of course).
Peter B - You have never killed one character near to the hero ?
Reed - //cinders
Reed -
cinders
Camby - We've been having a great discussion Cissy. Sorry you missed so much of it.
Peter B - And that's the normal time it will get full here.
Stacey - Hi Cinders
Cissy - Me too, Cam - but that's why god made transcripts
sutz - I hope I know what i'm doing here
SabrinaJef - Peter, I've killed the occasional really minor character.
Camby - Sabrina, just a side note, you KNOW you're going to have to come back here when we've all had a chance to get to know Ian!
Susanna - Sabrina, what's the single most difficult aspect of writing for you?
SabrinaJef - Cel, so does this mean that we've now moved into general chat mode?
SabrinaJef - Susanna,
Cel - Not really, Sabrina, we do have a tendacy to jump all over the place.
Camby - Speaking of killing off, Sabrina you really had me worried when Gideon and Jordan came face to face in PL.
SabrinaJef - Hey, I'd never kill off the heroine's brother.
Cissy - Has anyone been manning the protocol or has their been one?
Susanna - Now Cissy - we've been good!
SabrinaJef - Yes, Camby, I'd be happy to. Actually, Cissy and I talked about waiting until the book had been out, but just didn't do anything about it.
Cel - We decided on an open forum, Cissy, and it's been working.
SabrinaJef - Protocol?
Camby - But I didn't know that at the time! Hey, it was a compliment.
sutz - Okay, we'll try this again
SabrinaJef - You got it, Sutz!!
sutz - Hello, Sabrina. Are we having fun yet?
Cissy - we'd *love* to have you back after the books officially out, Sabrina. Considering this is the first author's chat I've missed, maybe I can even make that one!
SabrinaJef - Oh, I know, Camby.
Susanna - Sabrina - single most difficult aspect of writing for you?
Cel - We're reading you just fine, sutz
SabrinaJef - Sure! Anybody who knows me knows I LOVE to talk.
SabrinaJef - Thanks, Susanna. Single most difficult . . . hmmm
SabrinaJef - I guess it's the development of characters.
Cel - Sondra was disconnected and can't get back in. Sabrina she wanted me to tell you thanks for chatting and she enjoyed it.
sutz - I accidentally went to the other board and heard some interesting talk about erotic vampires.
Peter B - What do you get first: An optic expression or really the character ?
SabrinaJef - I agonize over them and change them a bunch of times before they're cast in stone. I even change them in copy-edits a little.
Cel - LOL sutz - you got into the *erotic author* chat.
SabrinaJef - I see them in really broad brush strokes, Peter.
SabrinaJef - I have to get to know them by writing, and that makes me have to go back and change stuff a gajillion times.
jill - BRB.
sutz - Tell me about it!!!! Whoa, mama!!
Cissy - lol, sutz!
Cel - LOL sutz
Cissy - that's pretty stiff competition
Camby - LOL sutz
Reed - lol sutz
SabrinaJef - LOL, Sutz!
Susanna - Sabrina do map your book out before you write or just kind of go along and see what develops?
SabrinaJef - Oh, Sutz, you have to tell them about the twinkies!
Cissy - NO pun intended!
Reed - no pun intended Cissy?
Reed - great minds
SabrinaJef - I map out my book pretty carefully, then I do what I want.
Robin - LOL Cissy
Peter B - I tried once, made a carefully map and wrote a different book. Well, may I have something to learn.
SabrinaJef - Thanks, Cel, for telling me about Sondra.
shy -
- 3/5 at 10:40pm EST
sutz - I'm laughing here, Sabrina. Actually the twinkies were a real hit at the signings this weekend, but this is YOUR night, so let's talk about YOUr wonderful books.
SKYE - logged on. - 3/5 at 10:40pm EST
Camby - Hey shy
SabrinaJef - I doubt that any writer could stick strictly to the script.
Peter B - Hi Shy
Cissy - Hi shy & Skye!
Camby - Hi Skye
SabrinaJef - Hi, shy.
Peter B - Hi Skye
Robin - hi shy, Skye
&
gerri - HI skye and shy
Stacey - Hi Shy and Skye
shy - Hi Everyone
jill - Hi shy!!!
SabrinaJef - Hi, Skye.
SKYE - Sorry am going to the Authors chat ...but lost the main URL so had to come in and then out to go there...LOL HI AND BYE EVERYONE....just for a bit!
Cel - Hi Shy
jill - Hi skye!!
Cel - Hi Skye
SKYE -
- 3/5 at 10:41pm EST
Camby - Sabrina, when you say you change things a gazillion times, do you mean about the characters themselves? Or the events surrounding them?
Susanna - Hey Shy
!
Camby - Oh jeez, that's a little too close to that bumbling question I asked earlier isn't it?
Cissy - lol, that's just sad, Skye
gerri - Its bed time for me.....See everyone later.
SabrinaJef - Well, for example, I'll have it that the hero has a problem with his past, but I won't know exactly what that problem is except in the broadest terms.
Peter B - Bye Gerri
jill - Sabrina have you written a book called Stormswept??
Cel - Night gerri
jill - Night gerri!!!
Camby - G'nite gerri
Stacey - Night Gerri
gerri - Sabrina it was nice meeting and I'm looking forward to your next book
SabrinaJef - For example, with Jordan, I knew that he had a bad relationship with his mother. That's all.
SabrinaJef - Thanks, Gerri! Bye!
sutz - goodnight Gerri
gerri -
- 3/5 at 10:43pm EST
Peter B - But if you change the main characters, sometimes the storry would also change.
Susanna - nighrt gerri
!
SabrinaJef - Yeah, jill, that one's mine.
SabrinaJef - Exactly, Peter. Which is why I deviate from my plan so much.
SabrinaJef - By the time the book is done.
sutz - Sabrina will you give me a little pub history? How many books have you written?
jill - I have it. I came across it doing inventory.
Peter B - That, why the changed character wouldn't do, what the unchanged already had done ?
SabrinaJef - I tell people that I write the way pointilistic painters paint. I put in one layer, then another, then another.
SabrinaJef - I don't work in a straight line.
Cissy - Sabrina, do your characters tend to take on lives of their own? That is, do they reveal themselves to you? Or do you pretty much stay in control of them?
SabrinaJef - Well, I was in the shower the other day telling the villain of this book that he absolutely couldn't be the hero of the next book.
SabrinaJef - I lost. So he's not going to be as villainous as I'd planned.
Camby - LOL Must've been a crowded shower.
SabrinaJef - I mean, I was seriously talking to this guy.
Cel - LOL Sabrina
SabrinaJef - He was real to me. LOL, Camby!
Cissy - lol, Sabrina! I just *love* villains who're redeemable
Peter B - Does any author have control over the main characters ? LOL
Cissy - lol, Cam
jill - Hmm..that's interesting Sabrina another guy in the shower!!!
SabrinaJef - Yeah, me too, Cissy.
SabrinaJef - Don't tell my husband.
Camby - And I thought it was enough just taking the book into the bath with me. You take the whole hero! *impressed look*
Cissy - Sabrina, you may have already answered this, but what are the key ingredients for a good romance, to you?
SabrinaJef - I think if the characters are good, they'll talk to you (and shower with you, too
)
jill - My lips are sealed if you arrange for me to review your next galley!! I'm not above blackmail!!
cinders has timed out.
cinders -
- 3/5 at 10:49pm EST
SabrinaJef - Okay, for ME, the key ingredients are believable characters, LIKABLE characters, and intense sexual tension.
SabrinaJef - I just don't like those softer, gentler books. I want the characters to spark off each other.
Peter B - In my first book, I used a heroine named Stefanie and month later, the book was nearly finished, my wife and me met really a girl fitting to that description and this name. She didn't believe, that I didn't know that girl before. What a trouble
Cissy -
Me too!
Robin -
Camby
Susanna - I agree completely Sabrina - the soft ones put me to sleep !
SabrinaJef - LOL, Peter!
marric - logged on - 3/5 at 10:51pm EST
marric -
marric - hi all
Peter B - Hi Marric
Camby - So, should I have a fire extinguisher handy for when I read about Ian?
SabrinaJef -
, Marric
shy - Hi Marric
Cel - Hi marric
Camby - Hi marric
Peter B - Unfortunally, Stefanie WAS real !
jill - Hi marric!!
marric - The room is full tonight
SabrinaJef - Definitely have the fire extinguisher ready, Camby.
Susanna - Hey marric
!
Cissy - marric, we're chatting with Sabrina Jeffries. She's getting us primed to buy THE DANGEROUS LORD
ks - logged on. - 3/5 at 10:54pm EST
Camby - So, what's next after DL?
SabrinaJef - Am I right, Jill?
Stacey - Hi Marric
Cel - marric, author Sabrina Jeffries is with us tonight.s
Camby - Hi ks
sutz has timed out.
Peter B - Hi ks
shy - Hi Ks
jill - Fire extinguisher for Ian. Yeah Cam I'd recommend that and Ryan for you!!
SabrinaJef - After DL, I'm writing about a rich owner of a trading company who is SUPPOSED to marry an earl's daughter
Peter B - I miss Goldie here. But the rest seems to be complete.
Cel - Hi ks
Stacey - Hi ks
marric - Hi Sabrina nice to meet you
ks - This is Sutz/ks i got bumped off and it wouldn't let Sutz back on.
Susanna - Hi ks
!
Peter B - Marriage for social ascent ?
Cissy - what's he going to do instead, Sabrina?
jill - Hi ks!!
Camby - LOL jill
SabrinaJef - Hi, marric.
SabrinaJef - Well, Cissy, he's being blackmailed into it by the earl in exchange for a document proving his legitimacy.
Susanna - That sounds great Sabrina!
SabrinaJef - So he trades places with his man of affairs, and the man of affairs courts the spinster sisters while he searches for the document.
SabrinaJef - Of course, he falls for one of the sisters.
Peter B - That's more than one possible story.
Cissy - Is the heroine is going to be the earl's daughter or someone else?
SabrinaJef - The man of affairs falls for the other in the book I'm writing now.
Reed - 48 is
Cissy - ah, that answers that!
SabrinaJef - And the third sister falls for the pseudo-villain from THIS book.
SabrinaJef - Yeah, Cissy, the series is about the earl's daughters.
Peter B - So it would be a trilogy too ?
SabrinaJef - I wanted to call it the Swanlea Spinsters, but Avon says spinster is a ecchy word.
SabrinaJef - So it'll probably be the Swanlea Sisters or Brides or something.
Cel - Your new trilogy is about the *Swanlea Spinsters*, right Sabrina?
SabrinaJef - Yes, another trilogy. I like them for some reason.
Camby - Sounds great Sabrina! Especially the one with the man of affairs. Different twist there.
Cissy - LOL, Sabrina
SabrinaJef - This man of affairs is not your average man of affairs, however.
Stacey - I can see my
is going to grow
Cel - Ooops - you just answered my question.
SabrinaJef - He's the son of a highwayman who was hanged when the hero was a child.
Cissy - ohhh.... I'm interested already
SabrinaJef - The hero was raised by smugglers and pulled himself up by his bootstraps.
marric -
- 3/5 at 11:02pm EST
Cissy - tortured heroes really get me
ks - OOoh, he already sounds sexy!!
Camby - Whoa!
SabrinaJef - And the heroine is a really elegant earl's daughter.
SabrinaJef - Who's also lame.
SabrinaJef - Can't help it--I love tortured heroes.
goldie - logged on. - 3/5 at 11:03pm EST
ks - Is he sort of a bad boy cuz we know I love those bad boys
goldie - hi
SabrinaJef - Hi, Goldie //wav
Camby - Hi goldie
Peter B - Hi Princess
missed you !
Stacey - Hi goldie
goldie - We keep missing each other.
jill - Hi goldie!!
Cel - Hi goldie
Cissy - I'm a sucker for a good anti-hero
shy - Hi Goldie
goldie - Hi everyone, are you all going to watch the 10th kingdom?
Peter B - Goldie, that's because we are both too busy.
goldie - I'm sorry that you had to wait so long Peter
Susanna - Hi goldie
!
Camby - Me too Cissy. *sigh*
Stacey - Me too, Cissy
Peter B - What's the 10th Kingdom ?
goldie - I am looking forward to talking to Karen
SabrinaJef - Daniel's not like any other character I've ever written. He's easygoing--until he meets the heroine, who drives him insane and makes him want to strangle her.
SabrinaJef - It's already off where I am.
goldie - Peter, it's a mini series on tv right now. It is really good
Stacey - Not me Goldie
Cissy - Oh Sabrina, that's *exactly* my kind of book!
SabrinaJef - Hey, where did my other message go?
Camby - ks, especially bad boys who invade your shower like one of Sabrina's did! LOL
goldie - I just love that wolf!
Cel - goldie, author Sabrina Jeffries is here with us tonight talking about her new book (and others).
goldie - Oh sorry,
Peter B - I'm specially interested in getting historicals for my
SabrinaJef - Now THAT guy is going to be a bad boy for sure, Camby.
Cissy - I'm going to have to get the 10th Kingdom on tape. I didn't know it was going to be good but I keep getting sucked into it. I won't watch any more tho, because I didn't get to see it from the beginning. So I have to get tapes!
Camby - Can you repost that last one Sabrina?
ks - Camby, as long as they're invading something..Lol
Robin - Well, have to get back to studying. Night everyone
Reed has timed out.
goldie - good night
Cissy - Night, Robin
Camby - G'nite Robin
Peter B - Nite Robin
SabrinaJef - I'll try. I think I was talking about Daniel. He's easygoing, until he meets the heroine who drives him nuts. He turns into a tyrant around her and that drives him nuts, too.
shy - Night Robin
ks - my thingie is doing weird stuff
SabrinaJef - Good night, Robin.
Cel - Night Robin
Stacey - Night Robin
Robin -
- 3/5 at 11:09pm EST
Cissy - Oh, that post came up, Sabrina. It'
Camby - Ah, I just love it when the hero is completely thrown off-kilter over a heroine.
Cissy - It's the one that convinced me to get that book at all costs!
jill - Night Robin!!
Susanna - Sabrina I've enjoyed this immensely. I'm looking forward to reading all your books! Night all!
Cissy - me too, Cam
Camby - G'nite Susanna
SabrinaJef - LOL, Cissy. It disappeared from my screen.
Peter B - Nite Susanna
goldie - Sabrina I know that I have read on of your books and really liked it, but can't remember the title, it was a futuristic.
SabrinaJef - Yes, I've got to go, too. My wrists are killing me.
shy - Night Susanna
Susanna -
- 3/5 at 11:10pm EST
Cel - Night Susanna
Camby - Now which one is Daniel? The one being black-mailed, the man of affairs, or the pseudo-villain?
shy - Night Sabrina
Thanks for coming and chatting.
ks - Good night, Sabrina. Take care of those wrists!!
Cissy - Sabrina - thanks so much for chatting with us. Will you come back and chat again soon?
SabrinaJef - Goldie, you must be thinking of someone else. I've never done a futuristic.
Stacey - Night Susanna
Camby - Thanks for chatting with us Sabrina!
Peter B - Nite Sabrina, and thanks for the hints.
jill - Night Sabrina!! I enjoyed the chat!!! You'll hear from me soon I hope!!
goldie - Was it a vampire then?
SabrinaJef - Daniel is the man of affairs. Griff is the one being blackmailed. Morgan is the pseudo-villain.
Cel - Thanks for chatting with us Sabrina and promise to come back after we have all had a chance to read your new book.
goldie -
SabrinaJef - Good night, all!!!
SabrinaJef - I'll come back in a few weeks or so!
Stacey - Night Sabrina
Thank you for chatting with us.
Cel - Night //wae
Peter B -
Camby - G'nite Sabrina
