Get into the Spirit of the Season with Some Fabulous Books

So, I'm a sucker for a good holiday romance read. It doesn't much matter if it's New Years, Valentines Day, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas, I adore a holiday themed novel. That extra bit of sentiment just does it for me. That's probably why I've had more than a couple holiday book releases myself.

My favorite to write is a Christmas themed story, so I'm extra excited about the eBook only release of SILVER BELLA on December 4th from Samhain. It was originally released as a traditional tradesize in the MERRY CHRISTMAS, BABY anthology which went out of print less than a year later. Readers have been asking how to get a copy of the book ever since.

I loved that anthology, but no question some readers prefer just to buy the single novellas nowadays and I know there are times when I do too.

In honor of SILVER BELLA'S release and the upcoming holidays, I thought I'd share some of my favorite holiday themed books with you all.

A delicious standalone Christmas story, is the award winning Jami Davenport's LOVE AT FIRST SNOW - a novella packed with holiday sentiment and heartwarming romance.

One of my all-time favorite authors has a new Christmas themed story out with Harlequin American. THE RANCHER'S CHRISTMAS PRINCESS by Christine Rimmer is sure to please.

THE TREASURE by fan favorite Theresa Scott tells the story of a family created by the deepest bonds of love and a little bit of bumbling.

Some of my favorite holiday reads are the anthologies though and one you won't want to miss this holiday season is: HOLIDAY MAGIC - THE GIFT OF LOVE by Laurie Ryan and Lavada Dee. With two unashamedly sentimental stories by these wonderful authors, you can't go wrong.

Another holiday 2-for-1 for those of you who like me love historical romance is Mary Balogh's A CHRISTMAS BRIDE WITH CHRISTMAS BEAU in the same volume.

And let's not forget Debbie Macomber's THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS with its wonderful mix of true holiday spirit and romance.

If you're looking for something sweet with an inspirational element, try Debby Lee's CHRISTMAS BUTTERFLIES.

Gail Harkins set THE WINDS OF GLENHOOLIE the week before Christmas, and these two special people share a very special Winter Solstice.

It's your turn. What is your favorite holiday themed story or anthology? What authors have you found picking up a holiday story you wouldn't have read otherwise?

One commenter will be chosen to win a hardback copy of THE CHRISTMAS TREASURY OF ROMANCE with my story THE PLAYBOY'S SEDUCTION in it. This story is almost impossible to come by in either print or electronic format and is another one readers email me about frequently. So, here's your chance to win a copy.

Hugs and happy holiday reading!
Lucy

Not Just the Greek's Wife

Fun Fact 1 about writing NOT JUST THE GREEK'S WIFE: I went on a Greek cruise to do research for this book and you can find pictures of what I saw and experienced on my Facebook page. Such is the life of a writer...not really. I mean this was absolutely on my Bucket List and I'm thrilled I was able to find inspiration for not just one, but several books out of it.

If you could go on a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go? What do you most want to see/do there?

Ariston Spiridakou had one reason and one reason only for marrying Chloe: he needed a biddable bride to provide the requisite heir. Yet three years later Chloe’s status as good Greek wife is a distant memory—and her defiance has had her cast out of Ariston’s life....

Infuriatingly, Chloe now finds herself at Ariston’s mercy—but his help comes with a wicked price: the unyielding condition that he won’t even consider her request until she’s shared his bed...and is expecting his baby!

***************

USA Today bestseller and award winning Lucy Monroe’s love affair with books and reading began at age 4. She often climbed her mother’s book stacks to pull down the novels on the top shelves. When she was caught reading the Reader’s Digest Condensed Version of “The Godfather” while still in Kindergarten, those books got moved. Although she’s always loved mysteries and suspense, romance has been her passion since she kyped her first Presents from her oldest sister’s bedside table (again way too early).

She began writing after a conversation with God in the bathtub; as a homeschooling mom until her children were in middle school, the only place she could find any peace for many years was the bathtub. Her path to publication was not strewn with rose petals or even pavement!

Lucy wrote more than one million words of romantic fiction before selling her 13th manuscript to Harlequin Presents, nine years on from that fateful bathtub conversation.

Since then, Lucy has hit national bestsellers lists in England and the U.S.. She’s sold more than 50 books to four publishers and has three successful ongoing author led series. Her highly charged, sensual stories touch on the realities of life while giving the reader a fantasy story not easily forgotten. Whether it’s a passionate Harlequin Presents, a sexy romanticsuspense for Kensington Brava or a steamy historical-paranormal for Berkley Sensation, Lucy’s books transport her readers to a special place where the heart rules and love conquers all.

Known for her emotional depth, snappy dialogue, solid plotting and dry wit, Monroe’s stories have found their way into readers’ hearts and their keeper shelves. Which is exactly where she most wants to be. An author who writes so she can touch readers’ hearts, she’s never happier than when hearing from readers when she’s done so.

Lucy finds awards affirming, best sellers lists a great blessing, but it’s the interaction with readers via email, her social pages and at reader-centric events that reminds her time and again why she writes and why, for her, she always will.

Dragon's Moon

Fun fact about writing DRAGON’S MOON: did you know there are over 40,000 books about dragons? I didn't until I started researching these amazing mythical creatures. My favorite book? "Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons" Hubcap also loves it and stole it for his library when I was done with the research.

What is the most fun book you've read in the last month? Have you ever been tempted to "borrow" a book to add to your library?

Children of the Moon Novel #4
Berkley Sensation - September 2012

“A LUCY MONROE BOOK IS A TREAT NOT TO BE MISSED.”
—#1 New York Times Bestselling Author Lora Leigh

Bestselling author Lucy Monroe returns to her “stunningly sexy” paranormal world where one woman has but one choice for her people’s salvation—her sworn enemy...

When Eirik, the only living dragon shifter, and prince of the Ean, killed her brother, Ciara was left alone to face her prophetic dreams. Now, in order to find the wolves’ sacred stone and save all the Chrechte from destruction, she needs her enemy’s help.

Eirik was only protecting the children of his people, but that day in the forest left a mark on him as well. Controlling his dragon’s fire is the most difficult thing he’s ever done—until he and Ciara are forced to face not only their shared tumultuous past, but a hallowed bond stronger than they realize. As avowed enemies and predestined mates, their quest ushers them into a world of great danger, and a passion hotter than the dragon’s fire.

Fall Reflections

After a rather hard and crazy year, Hubcap (my husband) and I decided to take a much needed vacation to the Greek Isles. As many of you know we lost my mom in April. She had been sick for many years, and although we know she’s out of pain now, it is still hard to cope with not having her with us!

Hubcap and I took a cruise traveling through parts of Italy and Greece – I must say, I did find much inspiration in those Greek Hotties, I’m sure they will find their way into my books! While it was hard to be away from my kids and grandkids for so long, it was a time of refreshing and reflection on all the things that have happened over the last few months!

This got me thinking that many of us are in the same place - Fall is often a time when people stop to reflect on their life, set goals and start fresh! I’ve been accused many times of over thinking things, but I think it is important to stop, reflect and reorganize life when needed. Through all of the chaos of the last few months, I realize that I need to take a little time for myself. When I returned from the cruise and saw my ever growing TBR pile of books I really want to read, I knew that I needed to stop and take a little time for myself and dive into some of them. One of my goals this fall is to see my pile dwindle rather than increase! The only way to do that is to take a little time for myself and read!

I hope you are doing the same thing – taking time for you. When you have time be sure to pick up a copy of THE SPY WHO WANTS ME (Kensington Brava) that was rereleased in Mass Market Paperback this October!

Note from Jenny J: Lucy Monroe will be giving away a copy of SATISFACTION GUARANTEED to one lucky commenter on her blog!

I Love My Publisher

You hear a lot of complaints from authors about their publishers and you know? That's understandable.  My husband works for an amazing company, but there are days he wants to sit upper management down for "a talk". :)  The entities with so much control over our livelihoods are bound to inspire both positive and negative feelings at times. Right now?  I'm just truly loving Harlequin.

For such a behemoth company, they are incredibly innovative.  They're always trying new things, looking for ways to reach more readers and opening doors for their authors.  I'm sure you know they were the first major publisher to put their books out in digital format en masse.  And I'm betting you've heard of their new electronic only publishing venture, Carina Press.  But I wonder if you know about all the print alternatives they continue to provide beyond their regular lines and imprints.  The Manga versions of popular books and most recently their new venture - the Harlequin Showcase.  Showcase is a single title venture (shelved with all the romance books, not the Harlequin series) that brings back previously released series books in a 2-in-1 format for readers who missed the books the first time around.

As an author, I'm thrilled by this new venture.  Why?  Because I get tons of letters weekly asking where readers can find my now out-of-print and often unavailable even in used venues Presents.  So, when I was told one such story, "The Sicilian's Marriage Arrangement" would be in the May launch, I was over the moon!  I have a lot of readers who have asked about this story and where to get it and now, it's availalble again in a 2-in-1 with Julia James' "The Greek's Virgin Bride."  How cool is that?

It's your turn:  if you could sit the publishers down and talk to them, what would you ask for as a reader?

Award winning author Lucy Monroe published her first book in September of 2003.  Since then she has sold more than 50 books to four publishers and hit national bestsellers lists in the US and England.  Whether it's a passionate Harlequin Presents, a sexy actiona adventure, or a steamy paranormal historical, Lucy's books transport her readers to a special place where the heart rules and love conquers all.   You can find Lucy on the web at: http://lucymonroe.com, http://www.lucymonroeblog.blogspot.com, and http://tiny.cc/0HRGW
